About Me

I am Nicole, an elementary education major at Michigan State University.  I have a passion for helping people which likely has something to do with my desire to be a teacher.  I am convinced that my high school job was the best job I will ever have because I got to teach music to children.  That job influenced by career and major choice as I began to realize how sad I will be to leave my kids at the music school.   A project I started with Girl Scouts also influenced my career decision.  In high school I started a program to help new troop leaders adjust to the position by leading the first few meetings and providing the leaders with a surplus of materials and suggestions for how to make a troop successful.  Throughout high school I worked with a total of three troops ranging in size from 5 girls to 27 girls.  The dynamics of each troop were quite different, as you might imagine, but it definitely gave me good experience being flexible in lesson planning.

As a student and person, I really enjoy learning and being productive.  When I'm by myself I spend my free time doing something beneficial for myself or others such as learning, playing music, or exercising.  As a result, when I am interested in a topic and see the value in it, I am a hard worker but I don't enjoy busy work.  I spend most evenings at yoga, zumba, Bible study, or an education related club meeting.
